Privacy Policy

Overview

FL1 Experimental (“FL1,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is a build logging application for experimental aircraft builders, developed by Flight Level One. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we store it, and how it is used.

We built FL1 for the workshop — the last thing you need is a complicated data policy. Here is the short version: your build data is yours. We store it securely on your behalf, we never sell it, and you can export or delete it at any time.

Data We Collect

When you use FL1 Experimental, we may collect or store the following:

Account information — Email address used to create your account.
Project data — Aircraft type, project name, display name, and location (if you choose to share them).
Session metadata — Session start and end timestamps, duration, build phase, and optional description notes you dictate or type.
Photos — Photos you take or import during a build session. These are stored on your device and, for Pro subscribers, uploaded to our secure cloud storage.
Audio notes — Voice memos recorded during a session. Stored locally on your device.
Reminders — Tasks and parts orders you create within the app. Stored locally.

How Your Data Is Stored

On-device (all users): All session data, photos, and audio notes are stored locally on your device using SQLite and the iOS file system. This data is included in your iOS iCloud backup automatically, if you have iCloud backup enabled.

Cloud sync (Pro subscribers): If you subscribe to FL1 Pro, your project and session data is synchronized to Supabase, a SOC 2-compliant cloud database hosted by Supabase, Inc. Photos are stored in Supabase Storage. Cloud sync enables multi-device access and acts as an additional backup layer.

Public build logs: If you choose to make your build log public, your project name, aircraft type, session history, photos, and any fields you've opted to share (such as your name or location) will be accessible to anyone with your build log URL. Public sharing is entirely opt-in and can be turned off at any time from your project settings.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
  • We do not use your build data to train AI models.
  • We do not share your data with advertisers.
  • We do not require location access — location is an optional field you fill in yourself.
  • We do not access your microphone or camera outside of an active session you initiate.

Your Rights

You can request deletion of your account and all associated cloud data at any time by emailing us at privacy@flightlevelone.io. Local data on your device can be deleted by uninstalling the app.

You can export all of your build data (sessions, photos, and PDF report) directly from the app at any time using the “Export Build Data” feature in your project settings.

Children's Privacy

FL1 Experimental is rated 4+ and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, contact us at privacy@flightlevelone.io and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
